Summary of the Reviewed paper NIH Public Access published an article about SNOMED CT s RF2. SNOMED is complex and extensive computer information that allows common medical to be captured, shared, and aggregating health data. SNOMED was established in 2002 and was research up until 2010. During that time there were many problems that arise. Therefore, in 2010 the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organization (IHTSDO) that implemented a new format called RF2. At first glance, RF2 seems to be a cosmetic change; however, it holds great promise for the future because of its flexibility and to deal with a number of issues concerning the ontological underpinnings. A current problem with SNOMED CT is concept ID. Concept IDs give a medical term (Patient or Scalpel) an ID. This language can be confusing, and when there is confusion, quality of care and higher costs of health care can occur. When concept IDs are created, there needs to be a hierarchy so that each version can be kept track of the specif ic relation. Commonalities in the concept IDs can create a problem with SNOMED CT; the new concept model was created to figure out how to solve the issue or make it explicit. In addition to Concept IDs, uninformative codes are another problem with SNOMED CT. Uninformative codes can create confusion to what the code details.
